Overview
The Strengthening American Democracy Initiative, housed in the Center for Effective Public Management at Brookings, proposes to continue its research and outreach that focus on determining the sources of political polarization and the pathways for improving the performance of governance, decision making, and democracy. The Initiative will focus on three areas where its scholars have established intellectual leadership: Presidential and congressional primaries, political realism, and increasing congressional capacity. The overall goal of this work is to develop recommendations that will allow our elected leaders to effectively deliberate and solve crucial policy problems.
