Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
This grant would provide unrestricted funds for Bread for the World Institute, a faith-based organization that focuses public attention on the value of development assistance to reduce poverty. It also advocates for reform that will ensure that food aid and other assistance will have the greatest impact. During this grant period, the Institute will work to protect funding for development assistance, mobilize U.S. leadership for the next round of global development goals, and advocate for effective food security programs. The Institute actively participates in the Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network, a coalition of think tanks and advocacy organizations that promotes reforms of U.S. development aid.
for strengthening coverage of women’s economic empowerment in the Hunger Report
This grant to Bread for the World Institute will support its twenty-fifth Hunger Report, which will focus on women’s important role in eliminating hunger. The purpose of the grant would be to elevate the faith community’s engagement and voice to promote women’s economic empowerment and to raise the profile of this issue in Bread for the World’s advocacy directed at the U.S. government and the post-2015 development goals.
