Overview
Public interest in behavioral science has never been higher, with a recent explosion of practical behavioral science research validated outside the laboratory. The field holds great potential to inform better public and private sector policymaking and implementation. Unfortunately, there is no top-tier outlet for publication of policy insights informed by behavioral science. The Behavioral Science and Policy Association is a new membership organization that, among other activities, will publish an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal, Behavioral Science and Policy, designed to translate rigorous behavioral science research into concrete policy solutions in the public interest. The journal will be published in partnership with Brookings Press, and the Brookings Institution is committed to bolstering the journal’s editorial board with additional policy experts, helping develop and publicize journal content, and identifying and targeting individuals and agencies with special interest in particular policy prescriptions described in the journal. The Association has a distinguished advisory board, including David Brooks of the New York Times, Paul Slovic of Decision Research, and Princeton University’s Daniel Kahneman.
