Overview
Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts and Technology (BAYCAT) is a nationally recognized leader in media arts-based youth development. Deeply rooted in San Francisco’s Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood, BAYCAT provides women and people of color between the ages of 11 and 25 with the technical training and hands-on experience needed to become a thriving member of the digital media industry workforce. BAYCAT’s Academy provides students with the skills and tools to create their own digital media content including films, music videos, and music. BAYCAT Studio provides its students with the opportunity to work alongside professionals to provide affordable digital media services to nonprofits in the Bay Area (many of them Hewlett Foundation grantees).

Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts and Technology (BAYCAT) is a nationally recognized media arts-based youth development organization. Deeply rooted in San Francisco’s Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood, BAYCAT trains, mentors, and provides employment opportunities for youth between the ages of 11 and 25. More than 80% of the low-income youth, young people of color, and young women that BAYCAT works with go on to have careers in the media and creative industry. Support for BAYCAT furthers the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy through the Program Delivery substrategy.
