Grants to this Grantee
for data, analysis and technical assistance for Sonoma County fire recovery
The Bay Area Council Economic Institute will support Sonoma County’s recovery from the wildfires of 2017 by providing data, research, analysis, and other technical support so that decision makers and the public have accurate and timely information to inform decisions about rebuilding, recovery, and the allocation of disaster recovery and other available resources. The Economic Institute will compile and synthesize public and private sector data, including data on lost housing and the status of displaced residents; assessment of impact on public lands and natural environment; identification of the need for services for residents most seriously impacted; identification of opportunities and best practices for economic development post fires, including synthesis of reports on workforce needs to maintain vitality and to meet the building goals; and identification of infrastructure damage. The Economic Council will work closely with a steering committee of local leaders and will provide policy analysis and recommendations for the recovery efforts.
