Overview
Three organizations—the Aspen Institute; the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning; and Civic Enterprises—are planning a national commission to advance the policies, practices, and research necessary to promote an integrated vision of social, emotional, and academic ways of promoting strong teaching and learning. This new alliance of thought leaders, policymakers, philanthropists, educators, and young people will advance social-emotional development and college- and career-readiness in all states and districts. The commission’s goal is that 20 percent of states and districts will implement relevant policies and programs within three years. The commission aims to drive greater field coherence and articulate a clear policy framework to advance critical aspects of deeper learning.
