Overview
API Cultural Center, doing business as Oakland Asian Cultural Center, fosters inter-generational and cross-cultural dialogue, and strengthens the cultural identities of the vibrant East Bay Asian community. The organization reaches more than 30,000 people through its programs, which include two annual festivals celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander traditional and contemporary artistic practices, weekly classes for all generations, an artist-in-residence program, visual arts exhibitions, and a host of community collaborations. With continued support, this cultural hub will maintain its performing arts programming, expand audiences through reinvigorated community partnerships, and add new staff and administrative systems.

Support for the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy. This organizational effectiveness grant will help the organization provide continuing equity, inclusion, and diversity training to staff.

With continued support, this cultural hub would improve its financial stability, plan for capital improvements, and deepen and expand its thriving programs.
