Overview
The U.S. government faces significant budget constraints and continued partisan rancor over appropriations decisions. The resulting efforts to cut spending threaten many social programs. As New York Times columnist David Brooks suggests, "We’re going to be doing a lot of deficit cutting over the next several years. The country’s future greatness will be shaped by whether we cut wisely or stupidly." Today less than 1 percent of federal spending explicitly considers evidence of impact as a criterion for funding. Launched in 2012, Results for America seeks to create a new norm for allocating public dollars through "investing in what works," helping to drive public resources toward results-oriented solutions.

America Achieves is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing excellence and equity in U.S. schools. America Achieves will continue to imbue deeper learning across its individual programs, which include a global network of schools and districts using the OECD Test for Schools (based on PISA) for benchmarking and improvement purposes, as well as a teacher and principal fellows program aimed at creating educator leaders. The organization’s work supports an increase in bottom-up demand for deeper learning practices both by exposing teacher leaders to deeper learning champions and by supporting the spread of improved instructional practices using a common benchmark.
