Overview
Carbon accounting of financed emissions is foundational for aligning finance portfolios with climate change mitigation. This work seeks to (a) develop a global carbon accounting standard for financed emissions (known as the Platform for Carbon Accounting Financials, or PCAF); (b) increase the number of banks that commit to measure and disclose the carbon emissions of their loans and investments, ultimately aligning their portfolio with the Paris Agreement; and (c) provide technical assistance to the participating institutions in order to adapt the global standard to the regional context, and implement carbon accounting within their firms. Grants to this Grantee
for support of the Groundwork Fund
The Groundwork Fund, a fiscally sponsored project of the Amalgamated Foundation, supports local community organizers working in overlooked regions of the country — the Deep South, Appalachia, and the Plains. Working closely with partners on the ground, Groundwork aims to support frontline organizing, shift civic narratives, and develop local civic leaders. Groundwork believes that local grassroots organizing is the most effective way to build power for those historically excluded and to secure justice, equity, and democracy for all. This support will position Groundwork to deepen its efforts.
for the Democracy Frontlines Fund
Amalgamated Foundation is a nonprofit committed to positive social change. It provides donors and funders with the tools, platforms, and strategic guidance to advance social change. This gift will support the Democracy Frontlines Fund, a collective giving and learning community, which is committed to reimagining safety, amplifying the voices of disenfranchised voters, and prioritizing leadership roles among diverse individuals and communities.
for the Global Fund for a New Economy
This grant is to support the Global Fund for a New Economy (GFNE), a fiscally sponsored project of Amalgamated Foundation. The objectives of GFNE are to increase the understanding of and the resource base for the new economy field, and to dramatically strengthen the institutional infrastructure of the new economy sector in order to lessen inequality globally.
