for organizational adaptation
The Alliance for California Traditional Arts is dedicated to supporting and sustaining folk and traditional arts throughout the state. Through its Arts in Corrections program, statewide artist convenings, and two small grants programs, the alliance has supported and made visible the work of culture bearers from diverse backgrounds throughout California. Each year, the organization makes grants to about 40 small arts organizations, and 16 apprentice artists across the state. This grant will support its adaptation planning and implementation, advancing the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy by strengthening an organization dedicated to cultural communities that have little access to other forms of support.
for the Living Cultures Grants Program Bay Area projects
Alliance for California Traditional Arts is dedicated to supporting and sustaining folk and traditional arts throughout the state. Its Living Cultures Grants Program provides small grants to fund exemplary projects in traditional arts. The Apprenticeship Program supports a period of concentrated learning for apprentices who have shown a commitment to and a talent for a specific folk or traditional art form or practice. Through these grant programs, the Alliance for California Traditional Arts makes almost 60 grants statewide each year, and has supported more than 600 artists and small arts organizations since its first grants in 2006. This grant to the Alliance for California Traditional Arts supports the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy by providing funding to small arts organizations and individual culture bearers.
