Overview
Akonadi Foundation nurtures racial justice movement building with a specific focus in Oakland’s underserved neighborhoods. Through its Beloved Community Fund program, Akonadi acts as an intermediary regranting partner, supporting free public arts and cultural events that celebrate and are rooted in communities of color. The Beloved Community Fund’s strategies are based in the idea that the arts build unity and solidarity in communities by providing people the opportunity to imagine positive social transformation. This first-time grant is focused on building organizational and leadership capacities in grassroots arts and community nonprofits to effectively and sustainably deliver high-quality arts and cultural programming.
