Overview
The Open Restitution Africa (ORA) project is a joint effort between African Digital Heritage, a Nairobi-based nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing comprehensive and innovative digital practices within the heritage sector, and leading South African cultural insights company, Andani Africa. ORA is a pioneering women-led initiative that aims to democratize access to information on the restitution of African materials related to culture and human ancestors. This grant will support ORA’s efforts to advance strategic dialogues toward knowledge access for policy makers and advisors on key restitution issues; strengthen African networks of restitution practitioners working on and with African state-based restitution strategies; and facilitate restitution process tools and capacity for African practitioners through the development of guides, policy briefings, and training from ongoing research.
