Overview
This grant will support ACT for Women and Girls to prevent teen pregnancy by providing tools for young people to identify and disarm the barriers they face to reproductive health and rights. ACT’s core programs—developing female leadership, student health advocates, and peer action teams—are centered around youth-led campaigns. These campaigns provide resources in the community, conduct educational presentations, link women and teens to clinical services, and advocate for school and community policies that increase access to much-needed reproductive health care. Tulare County, the focus of ACT’s work, is one of the most impoverished areas of California and has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates.
