Building on earlier Hewlett Foundation support, Achieve proposes to work with states and school districts to support the development, adoption, and use of high-quality instructional materials based on the Common Core. States and districts will train teacher leaders to identify existing materials to serve as models of instruction, adopt quality standards, and influence the creation and use of new instructional materials. This grant would also enable Achieve to address high-priority programmatic issues and opportunities, as well as strengthen its infrastructure across the entire organization.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Achieve is an independent, nonpartisan education reform organization dedicated to working with states to raise academic standards and graduation requirements, improve assessments, and strengthen accountability. Achieve supports states to adopt high-quality instructional materials, to ensure equity in course-taking by students, and to "test their test" by gauging alignment to state standards, quality of content, and depth of cognitive demand. Ensuring that instruction and measurement for deeper learning is rigorous will require states to adopt materials and assessment systems based on quality rather than choose them primarily on the basis of price or simplicity.
