Established as the Association of Black Foundation Executives in 1971 and now known as ABFE, this is a philanthropic membership organization that advocates for responsive and transformative investments in Black communities. Partnering with foundations, nonprofits, and individuals, ABFE provides members with professional development and technical assistance resources that further the philanthropic sector’s connection and responsiveness to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion. ABFE has crafted and launched a set of imperatives to guide philanthropy’s response to COVID-19 and police violence. ABFE’s work on these issues aligns to our Knowledge for Better Philanthropy strategy goals of informing and improving funders’ work.
