The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation announced this week that Althea Anderson and Leticia Corona have joined the foundation’s Global Development and Population Program.
From an email to grantees and foundation staff that Global Development and Population Program Director Ruth Levine sent about the new team members:
I’m writing to let you know that we have two terrific new colleagues within the Global Development and Population Program at the Hewlett Foundation – each with skills, interests and experience that will enrich our work immeasurably.
Althea D. Anderson has joined us as a program officer. She’s a social scientist with expertise in examining the intersections of gender, inequality, and health. She has a strong academic background as well as experience working with an African advocacy organization that promotes gender equality and human rights.
Althea will take on most of the portfolio currently held by Helena Choi, who is coming to the end of her tremendously successful eight-year term. She will support research, advocacy and programming that aim to expand women’s reproductive choices, economic opportunities, and social well-being.
Leticia Corona has joined us as a Fellow, coming most recently from her position as director of community advocacy at the nonprofit Leadership Counsel for Justice in Accountability in Fresno, Calif. Leticia has worked with disadvantaged rural communities in California and Mexico on environmental and development priorities. At the Hewlett Foundation, she will work across the program portfolio, providing strategic and analytic input. She is focusing on deepening the foundation’s support to organizations advocating for access to affordable, high quality reproductive health services in the United States; and applying principles around diversity, equity and inclusion in our international grantmaking.
