MENLO PARK, Calif. – The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation today announced the appointment of Patricia House, a Silicon Valley business leader with extensive experience with nonprofit organizations, to its Board of Directors.
Ms. House serves as vice chairman and senior vice president of strategy at C3, a new provider of energy and emissions management software, which she cofounded in 2009.
Ms. House was also a cofounder of the software company Siebel Systems, where she held a variety of executive positions, including vice chairman and executive vice president. The company was purchased by Oracle Corporation in 2006. Before joining Siebel Systems, she held managerial and executive positions at Verbatim, Oracle, and Frame Technology.
“Pat is a great addition to the Foundation’s Board of Directors,” said its chairman, Walter Hewlett. “She brings not only impressive experience as an innovative Silicon Valley business leader and a terrific strategist but also a deep understanding of green technology, philanthropy, and the nonprofit community in general. We’re very excited to welcome her to the Foundation’s Board.”
Ms. House is chairman of the Mary Mae Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing affordable housing for teachers, and a member of the board of directors of First Virtual Group, a diversified holding company with global interests in real estate, agribusiness, financial asset management, and philanthropy.
Named one of Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business in 2000 and as Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004 by the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs, she has served on the boards of directors of Levi Strauss & Co., Shutterfly, and BDNA Corporation. A guest lecturer at Oxford University and Stanford University, House received a B.A. in education from Western Michigan University.
