The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) works to safeguard the earth — its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. This grant to NRDC will contribute to generating appropriate ambition in the next round of commitments under the UN Climate Convention’s Nationally Determined Contributions, focusing on aligning these with the globally agreed upon goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions enough to keep global temperature increases well below 2 C. NRDC will work with other global institutions on creating public benchmarks for a set of key countries, so that targets are appropriately scaled and include detailed, comprehensive, and implementable plans by sector.

NRDC’s mission is to safeguard the earth — its people, planet and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends. This supports NRDC to help leverage transition finance to decarbonize heavy industrial sectors at the Chinese provincial level.
