Overview
This grant to the International Federation of Gynecologists and Obstetricians (FIGO) will provide bridge funding for the Advocating for Safe Abortion Project, which works with societies of obstetricians and gynecologists (ob-gyns) to build their capacity to be leaders on abortion advocacy. The project had five years of funding from another donor that is ending due to strategic shifts. While FIGO fundraises for onward support, we are supporting their continued work in Francophone West Africa, with co-funding from the Foundation for a Just Society International. Ob-gyns are respected members of the regional abortion ecosystem in Francophone West Africa with the potential to influence key decisionmakers in the health system to expand access to this essential medical service.
