Overview
In the Public Interest (ITPI), a project of PowerSwitch Action, is a research, policy, and strategy center that builds support for democratically controlled public goods and inclusive and responsive government institutions. Private interests are gaining control over many essential public goods and democratic decisions, while market solutions are increasingly embedded into governing philosophy, policy, and practice. The growing concentration of wealth and power threatens democracy, shifts public goods into market goods, and increases economic inequality. ITPI provides expertise, ideas, and capacity to organizations, public officials, and media in regions across the country to limit private control over public goods and identify pro-public solutions to our common needs.

for general operating support
PowerSwitch Action is a national network organizing to realize and build multiracial feminist democracies in U.S. cities, towns, and regions. The organization is driving an agenda to bring the billions of dollars in local public investments under the oversight of the communities most impacted, to expand decision making and power to more of the residents in our regions, to support the building and growth of member-based organizations, and to fight, when necessary, corporate actors who use their power to extract and cause harm to communities.
