Overview
The New Economics Foundation’s mission is to transform the economy so it works for people and the planet. The British foundation combines the reach and influence of a national think tank with on-the-ground organizing and campaigning to ensure its ideas are directly informed by the people affected, co-developed with the movements that will campaign for them, and won together. The organization has a long history of enacting social change — from being secretariat to the Jubilee 2000 debt campaign to hosting the original incubator of the Green New Deal plan following the 2008 financial crisis. As the climate and economic crisis continues to escalate, pursuing a Green New Deal is a critical objective of the foundation’s strategy to create a more equal and sustainable U.K. economy.
