Overview
The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) is a think tank established in 1999 to promote democratic debate on the most important economic and social issues that affect people’s lives. For over two decades CEPR has used data-driven research to challenge assumptions and identify problems emerging from the neoliberal status quo. CEPR promotes informed debate on the social and economic trends that define our society, helping develop a new “common sense” about how the economy works. CEPR’s research offers a new framework for how we think about wealth inequality, public investment, and worker empowerment. CEPR has documented how the rules governing markets have contributed enormously to the rise in inequality, shining a light on the ways in which the system is rigged and offering policy solutions to level the playing field.

Grants to this Grantee
for political economy work in Latin America
The Center for Economic and Policy Research is a think tank established in 1999 to promote democratic debate on the most important economic and social issues that affect people’s lives. This grant promotes research on and development of alternative economic policies in Latin America that support sustainable development to address the climate crisis; reduce inequality; and develop the industrial policy and macroeconomic policies that can enable this transition from neoliberalism. For this project the center will partner with the Research Center on Macroeconomics of Inequalities. Based at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, it provides evidence-based research to policymakers and works with civil society to promote industrial policies that reduce inequalities and offer sustainable development alternatives.
for the Revolving Door Project
The Revolving Door Project, a fiscally sponsored project of Center for Economic and Policy Research, focuses on the executive branch to ensure officeholders serve the public interest, rather than work to entrench corporate power or seek personal advancement. The project educates civil society to counteract the advantage that the financial sector and corporate America have in the regulatory process.
