Overview
The European Climate Foundation plays an international leadership role in climate change mitigation. This grant supported the European Climate Foundation’s efforts in facilitating the Climate Action gathering space ("Green Zone") for civil society and non-state actors at COP25 in Madrid, as well as provide support for communications staff. The Green Zone is designed as an open space for dialogue and exchange between academia, scientists, NGOs, the private sector, youth, children, indigenous peoples, and more, to discuss contributions to a carbon neutral and climate resilient planet by 2050. The Green Zone had over 300 activities, including workshops and debates, with a particular focus on youth.

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was established in early 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help Europe foster the development of a low-carbon society and play an even stronger international leadership role in mitigating climate change. The organization works to develop policy at the local, national, and European Union level. It also supports international efforts to mitigate carbon emissions through the United Nations and G20.
