Overview
The China Sustainable Cities Initiative (CSCI), a program of the Energy Foundation China, aims to reduce carbon emissions and air pollution from transportation in new and existing Chinese cities. There is a unique opportunity to assist China with developing sustainable urban policies and regulations to impact the largest urban landscape as a result of the most massive rural-to-urban human migration in history. CSCI’s strategy is to conduct targeted pilot projects that spark the design and adoption of effective national policy while building technical capacity to scale up. With renewed funding in 2015, CSCI will focus primarily on national policy and training and communication as the country prepares for the 13th Five Year Plan.
