Overview
The State of California has one of the most ambitious climate goals: reducing carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030. To get there from the transportation sector, the State will need to continue working on vehicle efficiency and clean fuels. In addition, the State will need to further reduce the total Vehicle Miles Traveled. The Natural Resources Defense Council’s Shared Use Mobility project will quantify the carbon benefits of the recent explosion of innovative shared mobility services, and determine what tools and policies are available in California to advance the efforts to reduce driving and its associated emissions. The Council will pioneer and test this work in Los Angeles.
