Overview
The New Venture Fund’s Western Energy Project seeks to protect fragile public lands in the West threatened by fossil energy leasing and development. This grant would support its efforts to (1) defend and promote the oil and gas leasing reforms adopted by the U.S. Department of the Interior through grassroots outreach and communications to federal agencies; (2) promote a balanced approach to fossil energy development that secures new protections for ecologically important public lands; and (3) ensure implementation of a new oil shale plan that allows leasing for research purposes only.
