Overview
Since 2006, the Hewlett Foundation has provided general support to Hope Street Group, a network of young business professionals and entrepreneurs committed to creating an "Opportunity Economy" in the United States that provides all children with a meaningful education and their parents with access to jobs, homes, and capital. Hope Street Group’s fundamental tenets are that sustainable, robust economic growth and equality of opportunity are mutually reinforcing and that partisan politics obstruct these essential goals. Several hundred national volunteers use their private-sector expertise to create a community of executives and professionals who press for equitable, pragmatic, bipartisan public policies. This planning grant would help Hope Street Group expand its programs beyond its current policy focus on education reform and primary healthcare to workforce solutions that address America’s current jobs crisis.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Since 2006, the Hewlett Foundation has provided general support to Hope Street Group, a network of politicians, practitioners, and others committed to creating an "Opportunity Economy" in the United States that provides children with a meaningful education and parents with access to jobs, homes, and capital. Through Hope Street Group, almost 1,000 active network members convene in person and online to share ideas, which the Group then tests, refines, documents, and disseminates for broader implementation. This renewal grant would provide general support to the organization to continue its existing work and expand the Jobs and Workforce initiative it launched in 2012.

for strategic planning
Hewlett has provided general support to Hope Street Group since 2006. It is a network of young business professionals and entrepreneurs committed to creating an "Opportunity Economy" that provides children with a meaningful education and their parents with access to jobs, homes, and capital. For the first time in the organization's young history, it will embark on a comprehensive strategic planning process to scale its impact. With the help of external and objective consultants, Hope Street will identify its unique niche and where it specifically can add the most value. This clarity of mission will enable it to hone key goals, create a framework for evaluating new opportunities, simplify and strengthen its communications messaging, and generate and adopt performance metrics against ongoing projects.
