Overview
New Schools Venture Fund is a national nonprofit philanthropic venture that seeks to transform public education. In 2008, the Fund launched the Academic Systems Initiative to increase the effectiveness of teachers and instructional leaders by developing a new generation of high-quality "academic systems" encompassing technology, content, and service. These tools will enable teachers and schools to use student data to target each child’s educational experience. They also will enable this kind of instruction to be managed and developed at scale. This tie-off grant would support the completion of a business and operating plan for an Open Item Assessment Bank platform, which will provide scalable formative assessments to evaluate and promote deeper learning.
