Overview
A 2009 grant allowed CEP to monitor and report on the implementation of the education stimulus package through a confidential survey of state education officials. It addressed (1) the assistance states needed from the U.S. Department of Education to effectively carry out the funded ARRA programs, (2) problems states had to address in order to increase the effective use of funds, and (3) states' plans to spend the funds. Survey results were published in December 2009, and a survey of school district officials is scheduled to be released in July 2010. This grant renewal would fund a fall 2010 survey of state officials, a winter 2011 survey of school district officials, and a follow-up survey of state officials in fall 2011.
