Overview
The Focus Project, commonly known as OMB Watch, works to provide the resources and transparency needed in order to increase U.S. government spending accountability, promote sound and equitable regulatory and budgetary processes and policies, and improve policymaking by making it more data-driven. A grant for general support will conclude the Hewlett Foundation's long-standing relationship with OMB Watch, which has received general support funding on and off since 2003. Though we have been pleased with the work the organization has done in the past, it is well-funded by others for whome it is a more central investment. In a time of major budget cuts, and a much stronger commitment within the executive branch of the U.S. government to transparency and accountability, we think it prudent not to continue supporting OBM Watch beyond this grant.

Grants to this Grantee
for the Green New Deal Network Fund
The Green New Deal Network, a collective action fund of Tides Foundation, is tackling climate change while proactively addressing discriminatory policies that hurt people of color, working-class communities, and other marginalized groups. The network works to support the successful implementation of federal climate investment legislation and to advance ambitious state policies. Their pathway to success relies on building the power of narratives, communities, and coalitions. (Substrategy: U.S. National Policy)
for the Green New Deal Network fund
The Green New Deal Network brings diverse actors into a national coalition of 15 grassroots, labor, climate, and environmental justice organizations. The network is focused on advancing climate justice campaigns in five priority states, implementing federal climate investments at the state and local levels, and advocating for federal executive action on climate.
