ZERO1 was founded in 2000 in Silicon Valley at the intersection of art, technology, and digital culture. With the recent acquisition of The Garage—its new exhibition, event, and office space—the organization has launched into a new era of programming. Its three lines of work include its biennial festival, a new fellowship program that partners artists with corporate, academic, and public partners to spawn innovative projects, and a suite of year-round exhibition and performance programs. ZERO1 plans to expand its new corporate membership program, continue to foster programming partnerships with other Bay Area arts organizations, and adapt its financial model to support its new physical and programmatic structures.

ZER01 was founded in 2000 to transform San Jose/Silicon Valley into a global epicenter for the intersection of art with technology and digital culture. The organization’s primary enterprise is the 01SJ Biennial, a festival that brings together contemporary art lovers, technologists, students and fans of digital culture, and artists and organizations that are exploring the boundaries of what art is in today's global and digital world. The organization’s third Biennial took place in September 2010 and included a plethora of exhibitions, do-it-yourself laboratories, and ground-breaking performances. In addition to this festival, ZER01 is developing a suite of year-round programs that include an internship program for high school students, a residency program for local and international artists, and a corporate innovation roundtable that gathers artists, entrepreneurs, and technology companies to develop creative solutions to social and environmental challenges locally, nationally, and globally. ZER01 plans to expand and deepen partnerships with Bay Area arts organizations, boost its international profile by engaging new curators in its Biennial, and strengthen its organizational capacity through board and staff development initiatives.
