National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture

The San Francisco based National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC) is an industry association with over 300 members. Founded in 1980, and supported by the Hewlett Foundation since 1997, NAMAC provides both advocacy for the media arts field, conducts and disseminates research, increasingly runs leadership training programs for arts administrators. The organization will continue to support its member organizations, including numerous Bay Area grantees, however, its focus is increasingly on better serving visual arts organizations and has received substantial funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation to support this activity. With a final grant the organization will support its general operations and conclude critical work on the development of a business plan that was begun with the benefit of an organizational effectiveness grant from the Hewlett Foundation in 2008.
