Overview
Berkeley-based Gamelan Sekar Jaya is a traditional Balinese music and dance troupe with more than 60 volunteer members. With a mission to foster artistic exchanges between Bali and the United States, core programs include an ambitious schedule of workshops, performances, in-school assemblies, and ongoing residencies, as well as the creation of innovative new works of music and dance. Reaching more than 10,000 audience members annually, the organization is known for its ongoing exchange with Balinese masters through its artist-in-residence program.
