The Lobster Theater Project, also known as Killing My Lobster, produces new original works of comedy and provides artists with training and performance opportunities focused on sketch comedy. The organization produces up to 10 performances each year, reaching more than 3,000 audience members. It also providing training and performance opportunities for more than 175 adult students each year, with a particular focus on aspiring comedy writers of color. Support for the Lobster Theater Project aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.

The organization reaches the highly prized eighteen- to thirty-four-year-old audience demographic through affordable and relevant performances, videos, and workshops at a variety of Bay Area venues. It commissions new plays and provides classes in sketch comedy and acting, some in partnership with the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco for youth participants.
