Overview
Proposals by the Department of Interior to lease land for energy development around national parks in the southwest United States threaten the integrity of several national parks. This grant to the National Parks and Conservation Association (NPCA) will support the organization’s work to ensure national park resources are protected for all Americans. NPCA will work with federal agencies responsible for oil and gas leasing decisions to make sure oil and gas plans adequately account for national park values, educate the public and decision makers on the impacts oil and gas development can have on parks, and engage its members and other stakeholders to help achieve its goals.
