Overview
Living Jazz (formerly Rhythmic Concepts) provides jazz education and performance programs, including Jazz Camp West, an immersive summer camp experience for 250 participants aged fifteen and older. Jam Camp West offers music training for ninety middle school students of all levels of experience. The Oakland Children’s Community Choir is an in-school program that offers four months of free music education to 300 Oakland public school students, and an annual Martin Luther King, Jr. tribute concert showcases the artistry of local musicians and schoolchildren. Renewed support would enable Living Jazz to increase opportunities for participation in arts experiences, and expand audiences beyond the 2,100 people it currently serves, by further developing its core programs, strengthening its fundraising and scholarship base, and building organizational capacity.
