Overview
The mobile phone revolution is starting to change philanthropy. The Haiti earthquake saw millions in gifts made from mobile phones, but the gifts were made without reference to quality, impact, or specific need. This grant would support an alliance between the Mobile Giving Foundation, which has facilitated millions of phone-based gifts, and the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. Only organizations that reach minimum governance, financial, and transparency standards would be able to use Mobile Giving’s platform. This grant would also support the integration of Charting Impact (discussed in the July 2011 Board meeting) with the Mobile Giving platform.
