KALW provides news, opinion, arts, and entertainment programming to 68,800 radio listeners each week, and 140,000 monthly listeners through the website. The station broadcasts national and locally produced programs, and each week presents over 60 hours of arts, music, and culture programming, much of it focused on local artists and arts organizations. KALW was among the first radio stations to offer broadcast journalism training and continues to do so. The grant to KALW Public Media will support KALW’s arts programming and community service activities and aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
