Overview
The City of Berkeley Civic Arts Commission advises the city council on all matters affecting the beauty and culture of Berkeley. The commission encourages and provides resources for cultural enrichment through three programs: Civic Arts Grants, Public Art, and Public Art Galleries. It also provides technical assistance, publications, and information and referral services. This supplemental grant will enable the Civic Arts Commission to acknowledge and adapt to the impacts of COVID-19 in its assessment of current art space affordability challenges and displacement risks within Berkeley, and support the development of strategies to protect affordable spaces for arts organizations, artists, and cultural workers. This grant advances the Infrastructure component of the Performing Arts Program’s strategic framework.
