Overview
Sisters in Education Circle works to uproot educational inequity by ensuring that Black students have a wide range of excellent Black teachers, school leaders, and school-based personnel versed in Black pedagogical genius and committed to education for Black liberation. The group works to decrease the attrition and increase recruitment, retention, and advancement rates for prospective, novice, and veteran Black teachers through professional support networks by organizing culturally empowering retreats; concentrating on development in the Black teaching tradition and overseeing the establishment and operation of a research library, interactive museum, and lab school to preserve the traditions and pass on the legacies of Black pedagogical genius. This grant provides flexible support for the circle.
