Overview
Brava! for Women in the Arts produces, presents, and cultivates the artistic expression of women, people of color, youth, LGBT, and other under-represented voices at its historic facility in San Francisco’s Mission District. The organization produces a season of eight projects, reaching more than 30,000 audience members each year, and provides arts education and job training programs for youth. Brava’s rental program makes its facility accessible to key constituents at affordable rates. This grant, to support Brava’ adaptation planning and implementation, advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy by strengthening performance and art-making opportunities for diverse artist communities.

for Loco Bloco
Brava! for Women in the Arts produces, presents, and cultivates the artistic development and creative expression of women, people of color, youth, LGBTQIA, and other underrepresented voices. The Loco Bloco artistic programs are rooted in the culture, music, theater, and dance of Afro Latino traditions. Each year, more than 400 youth are served in the program’s classes and workshops, and youth perform before tens of thousands of people in large-scale community events in San Francisco’s Mission District, including Carnaval and the Day of the Dead procession. Support for Brava’s Loco Bloco program advances the Performing Arts Program’s Youth strategy through the Program Delivery substrategy.
